PEI was established in 1963 when founder Joe Keily opened a hospital equipment shop on Grafton Street in Dublin, followed by a specialist patient fitting shop on Fade Street for Mastectomy, Incontinence and Orthopaedic devices in 1968.
PEI then began supplying directly to hospitals in 1971, most notably products from Thackray (now Johnson & Johnson) making PEI a central supplier in Orthopaedics for more than 40 years.
Today PEI employs more than 100 staff across Ireland and operates across a diverse range of medical sectors including Orthopaedics, Orthodontics, Sleep, Pain Management, Vascular and Operating Room consumables.
PEI’s culture of support and empathy for patients, coupled with a genuine focus on valuing each team member continues on through more than 50 years of management by the Keily family, across three generations.
As well as caring for and giving back to our employees, PEI also recognises the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility. We have a dedicated Social and CSR Committee, and actively encourage employees to run CSR events, or to fundraise for causes that resonate with them.
PEI are committed to ensuring that Sustainability is a driving force of our business.
Our CSR management system is comprised of policies, actions and reporting and is divided into 5 key categories: Environment, Business Ethics, Sustainable Procurement, Health and Safety and Community Initiatives.
At PEI all CSR initiatives are analysed and reported on to maximise visibility for all stakeholders.
