Moving to Non-Latex Surgical Gloves | Know the Difference!

More and more, hospitals are moving to 100% non-latex gloves. Some hospitals remain reluctant to change completely to non-latex gloves despite the proven benefits of eliminating the risk of latex glove allergy.

These hospitals only provide non-latex surgical gloves to healthcare workers or patients with a known latex allergy. This selective strategy fails to avoid unexpected reactions by people not aware of their latex allergy. This can have serious health ramifications for both healthcare workers and patients as there is no cure for latex Type I allergy.

Despite the use of non-latex surgical gloves, Type IV or chemical allergies and sensitivities causing skin-related reactions are on the rise.
