Compelling evidence that surgical personnel should double glove during all surgical procedures

According to Ansell Healthcare, in a recent edition of their InTouch newsletter, there is compelling evidence that surgical personnel should double glove during all surgical procedures.

During an operative procedure, surgical gloves are worn as a protective barrier to reduce the risk of disease transmission for the perioperative team as well as patients. Unfortunately, glove perforation during surgery does occur and increases the risk of disease transmission and possible infection. Research has shown that the perforation rate for wearing two pairs of gloves is significantly lower versus single gloving. InTouch provides educational resources to encourage and advance the best practice of double gloving.
